For the 12th successive year, SKF has been selected to be included in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) and the pan-European sustainability benchmark for the Industrial Engineering sector. “Sustainability is a long-term commitment for SKF, and I am very proud that we have been recognized for our efforts, particularly in the areas of promoting sustainable products,” says Tom Johnstone, SKF president and CEO. “SKF is committed to sustainability not only as a responsibility, but also as a way of developing our business. We see this as one of our competitive advantages in working with our business partners and in attracting, retaining and developing our employees.”
SKF defines sustainability as SKF Care, which encompasses Business Care, Environmental Care, Employee Care and Community Care. SKF has a strategy called Beyond Zero that focuses on both reducing the environmental impact of its own operations and helping its customers reduce the environmental impact in their operations and in the use of their products.
SKF is also working continuously to reduce the impact of its own operations and has adopted the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards ensuring world-class environmental performance in new SKF buildings/factories.
