Eight-ton bearing for mining applications

SKF has manufactured and supplied its largest-ever spherical roller bearing based on ISO standard to be used within the mining industry. The bearing, which has a bore diameter of 1,250 millimeters (about 50 inches), was manufactured in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is equipped with SKF SensorMount, a unique system that measures the actual mounting fit of the bearing onto the shaft and helps to provide proper mounting. The bearing weighs 8.6 tons, and the bearing’s spherical rollers weigh 93 pounds each.
