A new high-frequency routing woodchuck spindle – designed for high-performance but requiring minimal maintenance – was introduced at the 2002 International Woodworking Machinery and Furniture Supply Fair in Atlanta, Georgia.
The spindle, designed and manufactured by SKF Precision Technologies for the product Wood-Chuk, is capable of speeds of up to 24,000 rpm and power levels of up to 15kW.
The chuck is fitted with heavy-duty seals that protect the bearings in dusty environments. The air-cooling system requires no external lubrication or other cooling devices.
The spindle also has automatic tool-change capability. It is available for retrofit and as standard equipment on some OEM CNC routers.
