SKF is investing approximately 400 million Swedish kronor (40 million euros) in its facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden, to further increase capacity. Investments include a new production line for large-size bearings, a new plant for the heat treatment of components for the new production line and new equipment for the production of rolling elements.

The SKF facility in Gothenburg supplies products to the mining, energy, pulp and paper industries, among others. The production volume has grown considerably during the past few years, thanks to the strong sales development of the company’s products.

The new production line for large-size bearings will deliver products mainly to the European market. It is expected to be ready for production during 2010.

The new investment will mean that an additional 40 people will be needed for the plant in Gothenburg. A number of measures to make the production more energy-efficient will also be implemented.

This new investment is in addition to the one announced in February 2007, also aimed at increased production. The construction and installations as a result of that investment are ongoing and are expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
