The board of directors of the SKF Group has appointed Sune Carlsson president and chief
executive officer of SKF.

      On Sept. 1, 1998, he succeeded Peter Augustsson, who has left
the company.

      Carlsson was most recently executive vice president and a member of the group executive committee of ABB, with responsibility for the industrial and building systems segment. He has
been a member of the SKF board since 1991.
