US-based technology company Protean Electric and SKF have signed a five-year partnership agreement. Initial projects include a custom-made wheel hub bearing unit with integrated sealing and sensors for Protean’s in-wheel electric drive for the hybrid and electric vehicle markets.

Bob Purcell, chairman and CEO of Protean Holdings Corp., says, “The bearing design has a significant influence on the performance of the in-wheel motor, and only SKF can supply a bearing to meet the requirements for this unique application. In addition, SKF has the competence and skills to support the entire development life cycle and series production.”
