Robotex, a technology competition for young robot builders, has been held in Estonia each year since its start in 2001. It is coordinated by the Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) and organized in cooperation with the University of Tartu.

The mission of Robotex is to provide a technological family event of the highest quality in Estonia and to become the biggest robot competition in Europe by 2020. Participants in the competitions come from high schools, universities and businesses in Estonia as well as other countries.

The 2014 Robotex competition was held as a two-day event in the TUT Sports Centre in the Estonian capital of Tallinn. Some 12 robot competitions took place, involving activities such as football, sumo wrestling and maze solving. More than 200 robots were entered, with participating teams coming from Estonia and the other Baltic countries and also as far away as Egypt, Peru and Iran.

In addition, Robotex featured an exhibition with robot applications such as industrial robots and artificial kidneys.

SKF Estonia is supporting the event by providing components to some of the robot builders. At the 2014 competition, SKF provided bearings to the TTÜ Robotiklubi, the official team of the TUT, which finished second in one of the football categories.
