An air of service
The new SKF Aero Bearing Service Centre is part of the company’s strategy to expand into the outsourced services market. This includes overhaul and repair services to extend the life of SKF products and therefore reduce costs for its customers.
SKF has established an Aero Bearing Service Centre in Charleston, South Carolina in the US. The centre will provide inspection, repair and overhaul service for Pratt & Whitney mainshaft and gearbox bearings.
Service is to be provided for several engine families, and additional engine programmes will be added
in the near future.

“This startup will expand the services and products provided through MRC Bearings, located in Jamestown, New York, and SKF Avio located in Villar Perosa, Italy,” says Rolf Jacobson, president of SKF Aeroengine Division. “As the industry leaders in aero bearings for original equipment manufacturers, MRC and SKF Avio have built a strong reputation in the aero bearing market.”
