SKF has delivered its largest slewing bearing ever. With a diameter of 13.3 metres, the 70-tonne bearing will be used for the turret of a floating production storage & offloading vessel, used for offshore production of oil. The bearing will allow the 291-metre ship to rotate depending on the wave and wind directions. The bearing was ordered by SOFEC of Houston, Texas, in the U.S. for the Terra Nova oil field, situated on the Grand Banks off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
