Using a combination of technologies not used in other spindles, the Ocelot spindle provides high machining accuracy while generating zero wear and therefore infinite spindle life. As such, the spindle will help cut total production costs.

Conventional spindles for oscillating applications are supported on complex hydrostatic structures and incur wear in the mechanical system that brings the spindle to the work piece.

This wear increases vibrations and gives a greater spread of quality of the machined components. It also leads to downtime and high costs for repairing or replacing the worn mechanical transfer system.

The Ocelot system also provides continuous online monitoring of the work-piece quality via multi-axis displacement sensors integrated in the spindle.

The system has been field tested for more than a year.
