Investing in the future
SKF entered the Chinese market in 1912, and its presence in the country has since grown to comprise 18 factories and more than 7,000 employees. As SKF celebrates 100 years in China, the company is investing heavily in the future with new facilities built according to LEED environmental certification standards.
1 A new factory in Jinan, Shandong Province, was recently inaugurated. The factory will provide tapered roller bearings and SKF Split Truck Hub Units for the truck market, as well as serve the industrial markets and vehicle aftermarket.
2 A regional distribution centre in the WaiGaoQiao Free Trade Zone in the northeast part of Shanghai is being constructed and will be fully operational in 2013. Featuring a 30-metre-high automatic storing and retrieval system, the fully automated warehouse will support the entire northeast Asia Pacific region.
3 The establishment of an SKF Campus in Jiading, Shanghai, will be completed in late 2013. The investment includes a new automotive factory for wheel bearings for passenger cars, and it will serve as the new home to the expanded Global Technical Centre China, SKF Solution Factory and SKF College.
