SKF is launching two new shaft alignment tools, TKSA 20 and TKSA 40, which are high-quality, user-friendly instruments that enable users to accurately align shafts by means of laser beams.

“Reducing energy consumption and avoiding machine breakdowns are important goals,” says Benjamin Provoost, development engineer, SKF Maintenance Products. “The new TKSA series helps achieve these goals, as good alignment helps save energy and results in lower stress on mechanical components, significantly reducing breakdowns.”

Shaft misalignment is responsible for up to 50 percent of all costs related breakdowns in rotating machinery. Accurate alignment of shafts can prevent a large number of machinery breakdowns and reduce unplanned downtime that otherwise would result in a loss of production.

Both the TKSA 20 and TKSA 40 are easy to use and set up. They enable the user to accurately align shafts in a fraction of the time needed when using traditional methods such as dial indicators, as no additional calculations are required to make the necessary adjustments. To facilitate a quick alignment process, both instruments show the live alignment status. This guides users, allowing them to see the results of the alignment corrections as they make them and enabling the optimum corrections to be made in a fast and accurate manner.
