Once again SKF has taken a strong position in the area of sustainability. SKF is ranked second in the 2008 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index among the carbon-intensive companies in the five Nordic countries.

The ranking was presented by the Carbon Disclosure Project, which is the largest investor coalition in the world.

In the past year SKF has launched several energy initiatives, including energy management that include designated energy coordinators around the world, a carbon forecasting mechanism to facilitate energy savings and carbon reduction investments. These activities have brought SKF from 10th place in 2007 to second place in the 2008 ranking.

“This recognition proves that we are on the right track in our sustainability efforts,” says Bengt Olof Hansson, vice-president of Corporate Sustainability at SKF.
