SKF Machine Support, an SKF group company, has successfully carried out alignment work on the world’s largest bulk carrier, the 360,000 dwt Berge Stahl. The ship is 343 metres long and 65 metres wide and can hold 360,000 tonnes of iron ore.

SKF Machine Support, an SKF group company, has successfully carried out alignment work on the world’s largest bulk carrier, the 360,000 dwt Berge Stahl. The ship is 343 metres long and 65 metres wide and can hold 360,000 tonnes of iron ore.

The project was carried out in Rotterdam, the only port on the European continent that the ship can access with its 23-metre draught.

Machine Support was called upon to execute sterntube alignment on the single-screw ship, which is powered by a 27,000 horsepower Hyundai-MAN low-speed engine.
The work was performed in a day before the vessel returned to its loading port in Brazil.
