Russell T. Gilman Inc, an SKF company, launched a new Mech-TronixTM motorised spindle system in May. The Mech-Tronix spindle can be outfitted with either a Totally Enclosed Non-Ventilated (TENV) motor or a more powerful Totally Enclosed Liquid-Cooled (TELC) motor. The TELC version can be ordered with a chiller/circulator of proper size.
Gilman’s Mech-Tronix spindles are suited to a wide range of applications, including automotive production, cable winding, milling, grinding and rough boring operations. When paired with an AC drive, these spindles can provide variable speeds up to a maximum of 11,800 r/min and power levels up to 14.8 kW, or about 20 HP. A grinding adapter and different nose styles are available as customised features.
