A new rope sheave unit, used to help draw paper through machines during startup or after paper breaks, has been developed that helps to reduce the need for maintenance of paper machines.

Developed by SKF, the new rope sheave incorporates a bearing unit that does not need to be relubricated or otherwise maintained during use. The very efficient sealing avoids the risk of leaking grease.

A special security locking system also prevents the sheave from working loose, reducing the likelihood of sheaves falling into the machine and causing damage or falling outside the machine and causing a safety hazard.

The unit can be used on both existing and new rope sheaves.
