Jaguar’s new X – Type is a study in performance and technological innovation.
The four – door, all – wheel – drive sports sedan, now available, is equipped with SKF bearings and seals from bumper to bumper. All four corners are fitted with SKF hub bearing units, the front incorporating magnetised encoders within the seal assembly for the ABS & TCS systems. The rear units feature SKF’s pre – assembled active speed sensors.
The front struts are fitted with MacPherson strut bearing units with integrated upper spring seat as well as a top mount bearing. The SKF design matches Jaguar’s very specific requirements of low friction with improved driving performance.
SKF supplies seals and bearings for the steering arrangement and the power – assisted steering pump, and the gearbox is fitted with a range of custom bearings engineered to meet the transmission’s specific requirements. In addition, the V6 engine carries front and rear crank seals and camshaft seals from SKF’s sealing business, Chicago Rawhide.
Over the production life of Jaguar’s new X-Type, SKF will supply products worth more than 15 million euros.
