Shanghai Bearing (Group) Co Ltd (SBC), a division of Shanghai Electrical Group Corp, has signed a joint venture contract with SKF to establish a company to manufacture and sell high – performance deep groove ball bearings.

The new company will supply China’s fast – growing market segments of household appliances, electrical motors, automotive electrical components and power tools. It will be housed in a new 9,000 – square – metre factory in Shanghai and will employ up to 200 people. SBC holds 40 percent in the venture; SKF holds 60 percent. Production is planned to begin in 12 months.
The partnership is the second joint venture between SBC and SKF. The two have been involved for the past six years in a company that manufactures automotive bearings.
