A new Linear Guide Slide from Russell T. Gilman, an SKF company, provides smooth operation and extremely high accuracy. The slide has a low friction roller bearing and preloaded re – circulating guide ways.
These units are well suited for a wide variety of precision applications, including milling, laser machining, drilling, grinding, material handling and robotics, as well as medical and optical systems. Gilman’s Linear Guide Slides are offered in widths from nine to 24 inches (22.9 cm to 61.0 cm) and in lengths up to 96 inches (243.8 cm).
The slides have a uniform and low coefficient of friction that allows the use of smaller rolled or ground ball screw drives. Custom linear motors can also be fitted to the slides. For hazardous environments, the slides are available with seals, wipers and metal or fabric covers to resist chemicals and corrosion. Some coatings offer high temperature stability, non – stick surfaces and dry film lubrication.
