“We have worked hard to reach this objective,” says Rolf Neuman, quality manager at Ovako Steel. “The automotive industry and its subcontractors are important customers for us. The fact that we now meet the requirements for QS 9000 is of great importance to our business opportunities – both existing and prospective.”
Ovako Steel, a fully owned subsidiary of SKF, has been awarded the QS 9000 quality certificate. Being QS 9000 certified opens up the prospect of increased business from the automotive industry.
QS 9000 was developed by Daimler-Chrysler, Ford and GM as a common quality standard for suppliers to the automotive industry. The previous standard, ISO 9000, was thought to allow too much room for individual interpretation.
