Sealing solutions contract from Indian Railways
Indian Railways has chosen SKF to supply seals for the refurbishment of tapered roller bearing units for its freight cars.
The order, worth around 2 million euros, is the single largest order released by Indian Railways in New Delhi to any individual supplier of seals. The seals will be manufactured at SKF’s plant in Bangalore.
“SKF is proud to be a partner with the Indian Railways in providing sustainable solutions that are world class and that have minimal impact on the environment,” says Shishir Joshipura, managing director, SKF India.
Indian Railways has one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, transporting more than 2 million tonnes of freight daily, and it gives high priority to the development of sustainable mobility as wagons and components are maintained and replaced.
