Wood-Chuk spindle debut

A new high-frequency routing woodchuck spindle – designed for high-performance but requiring minimal maintenance – was introduced at the 2002 International Woodworking Machinery and Furniture Supply Fair in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States.The spindle, designed and manufactured by SKF Precision Technologies for the product Wood-Chuk, is capable of speeds of up to 24,000 rpm and power levels of up to 15kW.

The chuck is fitted with heavy-duty seals that protect the bearings in dusty environments. The air-cooling system requires no external lubrication or other cooling devices.

The spindle also has automatic tool-change capability. It is available for retrofit and as standard equipment on some OEM CNC routers.
