An association of students, Tactik, of secondary school Jean Michel in Lons-le-Saunier, Jura, France, has participated in the Eco Marathon race, organized by Shell, with support from SKF. The race took place at the Nogaro circuit in Gers, France, on May 19-22.

The objectives of the marathon are to improve vehicle energy efficiency and to make progress in the search for cleaner fuels and new alternative energies. The ultimate goal is to cover as many kilometres as possible using a single litre of fuel.

The SKF supported vehicle took 33rd place out of a field of 204 vehicles in the petrol category, covering the equivalent of 615 kilometres per litre of petrol.

More than 260 teams from all over Europe, each consisting of five to 10 students, took part in the 2005 Eco Marathon in France.
